May was a light month in terms of changes to the SNB Rankings. The only change occurred as a result of Carl Froch's thrilling knockout victory over former undefeated champion Lucian Bute.
Elevated: Carl Froch With Froch's punishing 5th-round TKO over Bute, Froch rejoins the Rankings in the Fighters on the Cusp list. With previous victories over Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, Andre Dirrell, Arthur Abraham and Glen Johnson, if Froch can win rematches over Mikkel Kessler or Andre Ward, he will join the SNB Elite Fighters list.
Demoted: Lucian Bute Although Bute deserves credit for making a voluntary defense of his title in Froch's hometown, his performance was dreadful. Never having faced a fighter similar to Froch, Bute could not figure out how to defend himself from Froch's quirky offensive attack. Bute does have a rematch clause should he desire to take the fight, but for now, he falls off the Fighters on the Cusp list and drops out of the SNB Rankings.
